Jaden's Wicked Witch
by Calista Fox
About the Book:

Jaden is a sorcerer from the realm of magik, sent to the material world to convince Devinia, the Oracle’
s rebellious daughter, to understand and accept her true destiny. Only Devinia can maintain the
balance between good and evil in the realm once her mother’s reign has come to an end. But taming
Devinia isn’t nearly as easy as Jaden originally thought it would be. He comes to find that his task
doesn’t require the use of swords or wizardry—weapons he’s accustomed to relying on when in battle.
Rather, this conquest requires the use of his body and his powers of seduction. But Devinia turns the
tables on him when, after their first encounter, she leaves Jaden wanting so much more.

Returning Devinia to the realm of magik means that Jaden will lose her. With the fate of their world
hanging in the balance, he must choose between the woman he desires, and his desire for a peaceful
world…

NEW Excerpt (8-15-08):

Finally, Devinia stopped. She stood before a massive tree trunk, planted her hands on her narrow hips
and cast a glance over her shoulder at Jaden. “I’ve got some work to do. Are you planning on following
me all night?”

He propped a shoulder against a tree and crossed his booted feet at the ankles. “What sort of work?”

“It’s the night of the Autumn Equinox. The beginning of fall,” she explained. Her dark eyebrows
quirked upward and her silver eyes glimmered with mischief as she said, “The bewitching season.”

Oh Jaden was bewitched, all right.

And how!

When he’d first stumbled upon Devinia in the alley, she’d sparked his passion with her throaty moans
and uninhibited nature. When he’d gotten a good look at her, she’d stolen his breath with her beauty.
His interest in her had further escalated as her defiance and strong personality emerged. Now, he was
simply mesmerized by how intriguing she was, how utterly striking and fascinating.

And determined, no matter what she set her mind to.

Jaden shoved away from the tree and closed the gap between them with three long strides. He wanted
to know more about her. Everything, in fact. “What did that human mean to you?”

“The one in the alley?” Shrugging a shoulder, she said, “Absolutely nothing.”

“But you wanted to have sex with him?”

“It’s complicated,” she told him. “Things are a little different for witches in this world than in the old
one. We have to be careful here. With our powers, we could cause a lot of…problems.”

“Do you like mortal men?” he found himself asking.

Devinia’s heated gaze took in every inch of Jaden from head to toe and back up. She didn’t rush her
full assessment of his body and a slow grin spread across her rosy lips as she devoured him with her
eyes. “Not as much as I like immortal warriors.”

Jaden’s groin tightened. A voice inside his head warned him to stand down, to ignore the attraction
between them. She was the Oracle’s daughter, after all. But then he reminded himself that while she
was in the modern world, Devinia wasn’t a deity.

What she was, Jaden quickly deduced as the palm of one small hand flattened against his chest and
she leaned into him, was brazen. And he liked it.

The flash of desire in her eyes told him he ignited her passion as quickly, as intensely, as she did his.
When her fingers curled around the opening of his shirt and the other hand began to explore his
abdomen, his cock stiffened. He wanted her. Badly.

Could he have her? Just this one time, before they returned to their world—a world that wouldn’t
accept a warrior and a deity as lovers?

Jaden considered this for a moment. On the one hand, the way she looked at him, so hungrily, as
though she had every intention of feasting on him from head to toe, made his pulse rage within him.

On the other hand…

Oh by all that’s holy!

He realized he didn’t care about the other hand. Well, not the philosophical one at any rate. The hand
that slid underneath the hem of his shirt, however, was of great interest to him.

Her fingertips grazed his flesh, causing his muscles to bunch and fire to roar through his body.
Devinia stared up at him, a wicked glint in her eyes. As though she knew his internal debate—knew he
lost it with just that one touch.

In the next instant, she shoved his shirt upward and Jaden yanked it over his head and tossed it to
the ground. She let out a soft whimper filled with desire and anticipation, and it was practically his
undoing.

“No mortal man is built like this,” she whispered as both of her small hands splayed over his abdomen.
“This is the kind of body meant to be worshipped.”

“Even by powerful deities?”

She smiled up at him. “I’m not a goddess in this world.”

That she had drawn the same conclusion as he had put Jaden’s mind at ease. They weren’t bound by
the laws of their world. At this moment, in this place, they were free to do as they pleased, to fulfill
whatever wants and desires that possessed them.

The knowledge of this did wild things to Jaden’s insides. His gut coiled tight, his groin burned, in need
of her bewitching attention. His hands gripped her upper arms, keeping her planted before him, their
bodies not quite touching. When her fingers moved upward, though, caressing his flesh, stroking the
muscles of his chest, he relinquished his hold on her. Devinia’s arms wrapped around his neck and her
body pressed to his just as his head dipped.

Jaden’s lips brushed hers lightly at first. He tasted her tentatively, inhaling the scent of her and
savoring the spark that ignited between them. His head hovered close to hers for a few moments. Her
eyelids dipped, but her silver irises remained glued to his mouth.

Jaden grinned. This was so much better than he’d expected. And if he was going to break one of the
biggest laws ever imposed upon him, he was glad it was well worth his disobedience.

“Kiss me,” she whispered as her eyelids seemed to grow heavier until they finally fluttered closed.
“Please, please kiss me.”

Her head tilted to the side just as Jaden claimed her mouth.

A breath of time barely passed before they simultaneously parted their lips. His tongue thrust deep
inside, twisting and tangling with hers. Need and desire seemed to rise up within her and pass to him,
mingling with his own internal emotions. Jaden felt the instant bond between them, the intense, innate
connection. It stirred his senses and heightened his arousal, causing his cock to strain against the
bindings of his leather pants.

This time it was even more painful than the last, when she’d entranced him with her throaty moans in
the dark alley. His need for release was so great, his response to her so vehement, that his arms
encircled her narrow waist and he crushed her slender body to his.

Devinia seemed to understand his urgency, the passion within him that she’d unwittingly unleashed
the moment he’d laid eyes on her. She responded in turn, pressing the palm of her hand to the back
of his head, keeping him in place as she deepened the kiss. Jaden had never experienced such reckless
abandon. Nor had he ever expected a woman to let loose of her inhibitions, to let her desire reign so
freely.

But Devinia Sparks wasn’t just any woman. She was the daughter of a powerful goddess. And she
embraced lust and passion in a way that matched his own acceptance of the all-consuming sensations.
As her body pressed against his, Jaden let go of the reasons why he shouldn’t do this…the reasons
why making love to the Oracle’s daughter was a bad idea. Because, in truth, he couldn’t think of a
better idea than making love to her.

And with that thought, he moved backward until she was pressed up against the trunk of the tree he’
d been propped against earlier. It wasn’t any better than the brick wall in the alley, but given the
remote area, he had no choice.

Well, that wasn’t entirely true. Jaden could easily teleport them somewhere else, someplace exotic, or
just somewhere with a really large bed. But he couldn’t wait another minute to be inside Devinia. Nor
was he interested in expending his energy on anything but sex with this enchantress.

Besides, he liked the smell of the trees and the sound of the rustling leaves. It was dark and earthy
here; nature at its finest.

“You’re thinking too much about this,” Devinia said as she broke their kiss. “Stop thinking and start
undressing me.”

Her voice was heavy with desire and it excited Jaden all the more. “You’re an impatient one.”

“I haven’t had sex in a long time,” she admitted. “But…really, I just…need you.” She stared up at him,
her breath coming in heavy pulls. Something dark and intriguing clouded her once-translucent eyes. “I
want you, Jaden. Inside me. Now.”
